Camryn Manheim Exits Law & Order After the Finale of Season 23

Camryn Manheim is bidding farewell to Law & Order after the finale of season 23, which will air on May 16. She joined the series when it was revived by NBC in 2021. 

Manheim posted on Instagram, “I had the most incredible experience being a part of the Law & Order Universe, and more importantly, the Wolfpack.” she also thanked the cast of the series, which she spent with three of the season, including the guest stars.

She also mentioned the series crew by stating, “loved spending time with the most hard-working, professional and kindhearted crew.”

The series creator Dick Wolf thanked Camryn for helping to relaunch the three seasons of Law and Order. He continued, “She is a class act, and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter.”

Camryn played the character of Lieutenant Kate Dixon in the revived series. She first appeared as a guest role in the first season of the series, which premiered in 1991. She also played different characters in 1993 and 1994 and appeared in Law & Order: Organized Crime and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Camryn didn’t reveal the reason for her exit in the series. But in her Instagram post, she hinted that “Something wonderful awaits me around the corner, and I can’t wait to see what it is. ” she appeared in a total of 48 episodes in the series.

Camryn is one of many people who exits the series in season 23. Sam Waterson, who has appeared in more than 400 episodes playing the character of District Attorney Jack McCoy, also left the show in February. He said about his departure, “The time has come for me to move on and take Jack McCoy with me.” After Waterson left the show, his role was replaced by Tony Goldwin as District Attorney Nicholas Baxter.

In addition to Law & Order, Camryn appeared in various series and films. She is best known for her character, Ellenor Frutt, in The Practice(1997-2004), in which she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1998. She appeared in CBS’ Ghost Whisperer as Delia Banks (2006-2010). 

Her character in the miniseries Elvis also grabbed the nomination for Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress. Camryn also acted in films including Happiness, Scary Movie 3, Dark Water, and An Unfinished Life.

The police procedural drama Law & Order was created by Dick Wolf and produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television. The series has been won and nominated for several Awards, including an Emmy.
