Ali Wong and Justin Hakuta Finalize Divorce 2 Years After Their Split

Ali Wong finalized her divorce from ex-boyfriend Justin Hakuta after two years of separation. She filed for divorce in December 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The paper does not mention the details of their divorce settlement, which included custody arrangements for their children and a financial settlement, but it does indicate that they were officially single by July.

As per the document, the former couple were separated on April 10, 2022, after 8 years of marriage. At that time, a source told ET, the split between them “is amicable” and they “will continue to co-parent lovingly.”

Wong officially filed for divorce in 2023. After two months, Hakota requested joint custody of their two children. At that time, he did not request child support but indicated that other matters in their divorce would be resolved via mediation.

After their split, Wong didn’t open up about their separation. But at the Golden Globe 2024, while accepting the best actress award in a limited series for her role in Beef, she addressed Hakuta in her speech.

She said, “I really need to thank the father of my children and my best friend, Justin, for all of your love and support.” She also added, “It’s because of you that I’m able to be a working mother.”

After her win, the actress explained her decision to mention her ex in her speech. She said, “I like to keep it peaceful and grateful and amicable.”

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter in February 2023, she said about her separation, “I did not expect the announcement to be so widespread, but by far the hardest part about getting divorced was my mother’s reaction.”

Ali Wong and Justin Hatuka first met in 2010 through a mutual friend’s wedding, and after that, they started dating. They tied the knot in November 2014, after four years of dating.

In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Wong recalled her wedding. She said, “I got married at City Hall because I didn’t want to have a formal wedding because I’m a stand-up comic, and I was like, ‘I don’t want to walk down the aisle for 60 seconds while people stare at me in silence.”

The couple welcomed their first daughter, Mari, in 2015 and their second daughter, Nikki, in 2017. They announced their split in 2022 and filed for divorce in 2023. In May 2024, they finalized their divorce.

Wong is currently dating Bill Hader, the creator of the comedy series Barry. They started dating in 2022 and broke up in 2023, but after that, they reconciled again.
