Disney Unveils New Teaser Trailer and Poster for Moana 2: Dwayne Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho Are Set to Return for New Adventure
Moana fans are now getting more excited, as Disney dropped a new teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming movie. On Wednesday, they revealed the teaser on their social media accounts.
Disney shared the poster first, which shows Mauis’Hook and Moana’s Stuck in the Sand, featuring, like in form number two, and in the background, Moana is seen on the beach as the sun sets.
Johnson also shared the poster on his social media account a day before the teaser release and wrote, “The ocean is calling her back.” He also added, “Experience the new trailer for Disney’s Moana 2 tomorrow and see the movie only in theaters on November 27, 2024! — Maui.”
The teaser trailer shows Moana arriving on the beach and announcing her presence using a conch. It provides a glimpse of her new mission. She has set out to start another adventure after getting a call from her ancestors, and one scene showcases the entire village, including her parents and her sibling, who waved off her journey. “This is a call from the ancestors,” she declares in the teaser, and she continues, “to sail to new skies and reconnect our people across the entire ocean.”.
At the end of the scene, Maui appears on Moana’s boat, and he asks her, “Why didn’t you bring the pig last time?” The teaser also shows the November release date.
In 2008, the first movie made $687.2 million at the global box office. The movie also gained a high viewership rating on the streaming platform. Disney announced plans to create a television series based on the film in 2020. But, due to its immense popularity, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced in February 2024 that they had reworked it into a theatrical sequel.
In a press release, Iger said, “Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise.” He also added, “We can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when Moana 2 comes to theaters this November.”
Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson will reprise their roles as Moana and Maui, respectively. The other voice actors include Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, and Alan Tudyk.
Moana 2 was written and directed by David Derrick Jr., who worked in the art department of several films, and this will be his directorial debut. Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear handle the musical work. The film producers are Christina Chen and Yvett Merino.
