Mahershala Ali in Talks to Join the New Jurassic World Movie
The two-time Oscar winner, Mahershala Ali, is in talks to star in the next Jurassic World film. He will soon be expected to confirm his entry in the Universal Pictures Jurassic World feature.
Ali will join the already-announced cast members, including Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Scarlett Johansson, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. The new movie will be directed by Gareth Edwards, who is famous for directing the films Godzilla (2014) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He was replaced with David Leitch due to the different vision from the studio for the film.
David Koepp, the screenwriter of Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, wrote the script. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce the film through Kennedy/Marshall, and Steven Speilberg is executive producing through Amblin Entertainment.
The production will start in mid-June in London, and it is decided to release in theaters on July 2, 2025. The plot details for the movie have not been disclosed yet. However, it was reported that it will start a new Jurassic era with a brand new storyline, and no characters will return from the original Jurassic Park films, including the actors Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas, Sam Neil, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern.
Ali began his acting career in the series Crossing Jordan and Threat Matrix. He got his breakthrough in the science fiction series The 4400. He gained worldwide popularity in the last two films of The Hunger Games film series.
He won an Academy Award for his performances in Moonlight and Green Book. He also grabbed a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. He also acted in several series, including True Detective, Ramy, and Luke Cage. He voiced the character Aron Davis in the animated films Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
He recently appeared in the film Leave the World Behind, along with Julia Roberts. His upcoming project is Travis Knight’s Wildwood, and he will return to voice the third Spider-man animated film. He also set to play Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Blade, which was a remake of the 1998 horror superhero film in which he will portray the titular character of the vampire hunter.
The original Jurassic Park movie was released in 1993, directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Michael Crichton’s novel of the same name. After the success of the film, its sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, was released in 1997, and the second sequel, Jurassic Park III, was released in 2001.
A new trilogy of the film started in 2015, titled Jurassic World; its sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was released in 2018; and the second sequel, Jurassic World Dominion, was released in 2022.
