Brad Pitt Reportedly Upset as Daughter Shiloh Drops His Last Name
Brad Pitt was heartbroken after his and Angelina Jolies’s daughter Shiloh filed a legal document to drop his last name. On May 27, Shiloh submitted a petition at Los Angeles County Superior Court to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
A source told People, “He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter.”
The source also added that it was “not easy for Brad” as it was a “reminders that he’s lost his children” and further continued, “he loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”
Another insider noted that even though he was happy with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, at the same time, the distance from his children made him feel pain. A source stated that he still loves his kids, and the process was hard for the whole family.
Shiloh filed the request on her 18th birthday, and she is the first one among their children to change the name officially. However, the name change of the teenager is not officially grand.
Shiloh was not the only child who appeared to remove the last name. Vivienne, who helped Jolie produce the Broadway play, dropped Pitt’s surname in ‘The Outsiders” Playbill as she listed it as ‘Vivienne Jolie.’
In November 2023, Jolie and Pitt’s daughter Zahara, while joining Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at her university as a new member, introduced herself as ‘Zahara Marley Jolie’, in a video shared by Essence. She said in that resurfaced video, “My name is Zahara Marley Jolie.”
In 2021, as per the reports of US Weekly Pitt and Jolie’s son, Maddox also dropped his last name in the documents and instead used Jolie, but that was not legally approved.
The name changes might have been a shock to Brad Pitt, as most of his children decided to stop using his last name and added their surname as Jolie.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt and sole custody of their children in 2016, and since their separation, there have been reports of strain in Pitt’s relationship with his kids.
An insider said, “Since Angelina filed for divorce, Brad has been focused on having the best relationship possible with his kids.”
In a recent filing for the ongoing battle over their French winery, Chateau Miravel, a former security guard, who worked for them claimed that Jolie encouraged their children to avoid Pitt during the custody visit.
