1923 Season 2 Adds Dexter Star Jennifer Carpenter to the Cast List
Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter was added to the cast list of 1923 season 2, a spin-off series of Yellowstone. According to Deadline, Carpenter will play the character of Mamie Fossett, a U.S. Deputy Marshall, “who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time.”
Carpenter will join the cast list along with Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, Brandon Sklenar, Jerome Flynn, Aminah Nieves, Darren Mann, Isabel May, and Brian Geraghty.
According to reports, the second season’s production has already begun. It was confirmed by SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan during the franchise’s European distribution event. He said, “They are filming a new season right now, Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are hard at work.”
He also added, “It’s ‘the year of Yellowstone‘, that’s what we’re calling it at SkyShowtime. That’s really the biggest show in the world right now.”
Sarhan didn’t mention the filming location of the series or the start date of production. However, the Austin Business Journal previously reported that the second season would start filming at ATX Studios in Austin.

The spin-off series 1923 first premiered in December 2022, and in 2023 it was renewed for a second season. The filming for season 2 was delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Now the production is in the early stages and is expected to wrap up in September.
The series follows the story of 1923’s Dutton family and the ups and downs they faced in the early 20th century, including Prohibition, pandemics, droughts, the Great Depression, and Western expansion.
There are no story details available for 1923 season 2. However, it will continue where the first season ended, and it will explore deeper into the Dutton family’s legacy. Viewers can expect plenty of drama in the next season. We already have confirmation that the upcoming season will feature eight episodes, with a projected release in 2025.
Carpenter is famous for her performance in the Showtime series Dexter, where she played the character of Debra Morgan, the adoptive sister and co-worker of the title character, Dexter. She has been part of the main cast of the series, which ran for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013. She also acted in its spin-off series, titled Dexter: New Blood, which premiered in November 2021.
She appeared in CBS’ Limitless as one of the main characters and played the lead in NBC’s The Enemy Within. Carpenter also voiced the character Sony Blade in the film Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge and its sequel, Battle of the Realms.
