Tom Kenny was born to Theresa and Paul Kenny on July 13, 1962, in Syracuse, New York. As a child, he was interested in drawings and loved to collect record albums. After meeting in the first grade, he became lifelong friends with Bobcat Goldthwait. When they were teenagers, after attending their first open mic night together at Skaneateles, which featured comedian Barry Crimmins, they began their careers as stand-up comedians.
Kenny attended Bishop Grimes Junior/Senior High School, and after completing college, he continued his stand-up comedy for eight years.
Professional Career
Kenny concentrated on his career in films and TV shows after focusing on stand-up comedy for years. He debuted acting in the 1989 film How I Got into College. After that, he appeared in Shakes the Clown (1991) and Comic Book: The Movie.
In the early 1990s, he became the host of Friday Night Videos, which were Music News segments. Kenny acted as a regular cast member in the shows The Edge on Fox and Mr. Show on HBO. He then appeared as Patchy the Pirate in the live-action segments of SpongeBob SquarePants and as Uncle Howee on the fourth season of R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour: The Series.
