VP Harris Fires Back: “Families Come in All Forms – It’s Not the 1950s Anymore!
Kamala Harris, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, recently sat down for a revealing chat on the famous “Call Her Daddy” podcast. She didn’t hold back when addressing recent comments about her family and discussing important issues facing women today.
“This Isn’t the 1950s Anymore”
Harris hit back at Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who suggested the VP lacked humility because she doesn’t have biological children.
“We have our family by blood, and then we have our family by love,” Harris explained. “I have both, and it’s a real blessing.”
The VP proudly talked about her stepchildren, Cole and Ella, who call her “Momala.” She stressed that families come in all shapes and sizes these days.
“This isn’t the 1950s anymore,” Harris pointed out. “Families look different now, but they’re still families.”
Standing Up for All Women
Harris didn’t stop there. She also took on comments from Republican VP pick JD Vance about “childless cat ladies” running the country.
“That’s just mean,” Harris said plainly. “Good leaders lift people; they don’t put them down.”
The VP clarified that women shouldn’t have to be moms to be respected. She thinks it’s wrong to judge women based on their family choices.
Fighting for Reproductive Rights
A big part of the talk focused on abortion rights. Harris didn’t mince words when discussing Trump’s claims about late-term abortions.
“It’s a lie, plain and simple,” she stated firmly. “No one is doing that. It’s not happening anywhere in the U.S.”
Harris explained how abortion bans hurt real people, especially moms who might need care. She painted a vivid picture of the challenges women face:
“Imagine a mom who needs care. She must find childcare, take time off work, travel to another state, and sit next to strangers on a plane to get basic healthcare.”
A Modern Family
The VP opened up about her own family life. She talked about her close relationship with her husband’s ex-wife and called her a friend.
“We have a very modern family,” Harris shared. “It works for us, and that’s what matters.”
Looking Ahead
Harris admitted feeling excited and nervous as the campaign enters its final weeks. She plans to spend as much time as possible meeting voters and discussing what’s at stake in this election.
“The only thing that matters is connecting with people,” she said. “I want to hear their stories and talk about their future.”
Why This Matters
Harris’ candid interview shows she’s unafraid to take on criticism and speak her mind. By addressing personal attacks head-on, she’s standing up for women who face judgment about their family choices.
The VP is also making reproductive rights a central part of this campaign. She’s clarifying that this issue affects real people in authentic ways.
As election day approaches, it’ll be interesting to see if Harris maintains this more personal approach. Will voters connect with her message? Only time will tell.
