When Cori Broadus, the only daughter of legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Wayne Duece last November, she likely envisioned a fairytale wedding fit for a “princess.” But as the 25-year-old is about to learn, planning a dream ceremony comes with its fair share of challenges.
In the upcoming documentary “Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood: Cori & Wayne’s Story,” viewers will get an intimate behind-the-scenes look at Cori and Wayne’s journey to the altar, from the initial excitement of their engagement to the overwhelming stress of pulling off their elaborate wedding plans. First trailer shows the path to “I do” is not easy.
Cori wastes no time laying out her grand vision for the big day, telling the wedding planner she wants a guest list of 750 people. “I’m a princess, so the princess has to do it big,” she declares confidently. But her over-the-top ambitions quickly become a source of tension, with Snoop himself jokingly warning, “This [wedding] is going to become a f—ing nightmare.”
Adding to the chaos is Cori’s struggling health. The young woman, who has battled lupus since the age of 6, suffers a devastating stroke just months into the wedding planning process. “My health was declining. I’m hurting; I’m scared. Why is this happening to me?” she tearfully recounts in the trailer.
The mounting pressure of her impending nuptials exacerbates Cori’s health scare. As the guest list and price tag continue to balloon, her relationship with Wayne starts to show serious cracks. During a tense couples therapy session, a frustrated Wayne asks, “There’s no point in talking. Should I even get married?”
And Cori’s insecurities about her body image only compound the stress, with the bride-to-be admitting, “I hate my body. My dress doesn’t make me feel sexy. Through it all, Snoop Dogg remains a constant, albeit exasperated, presence, watching helplessly as his daughter’s “princess” dreams descend into a “f—ing nightmare.”
This isn’t the first time cameras have followed the Broadus family. Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood, which aired on MTV in the mid-2000s, offered an unprecedented look at the famous rapper’s home life as he navigated raising his three sons and one daughter. Now, nearly 20 years later, the family is back with a new documentary that puts the spotlight firmly on Cori.
In a 2022 interview with Teen Vogue, Cori opened up about her relationship with Wayne, revealing they had discussed marriage but never expected to be planning a wedding in their early 20s. “We [had] talked about marriage, but we already feel married,” she told the magazine. “[There was] no rush. We’re so young. We have so much time ahead of us.”
But with a wedding date now firmly in place, the young couple is about to learn that “having time” doesn’t necessarily make the process any easier. As the trailer teases, Cori and Wayne’s happily-ever-after ending is far from guaranteed.
Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood: Cori & Wayne’s Story premieres Thursday, Dec. 5, at 10 p.m., offering viewers an unfiltered look at the highs, lows, and unforeseen challenges of planning a celebrity wedding. Cori may face more obstacles than she ever imagined on her journey to the altar.
