Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis, a rising star in the stacked lightweight division, has made it clear that he intends to challenge the big names. The undefeated 25-year-old, boasting an impressive 11-0 record, has been making waves with his bold callouts of champions Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Vasyl Lomachenko.
Keyshawn Davis bluntly addressed the entire lightweight division in a recent interview with Sky Sports. “Are they ready for me?” he asked, referring to the WBA and IBF title holders. Davis made it clear that he’s more than willing to step into the ring with either “Tank” or Lomachenko, but he has one condition: “All I need is a world title.”
Keyshawn Davis stated that he’s ready to sign the contract if either of the champions is willing to face him, declaring, “If they’re ready to fight me, if they’re willing to fight me, I will sign up. They can send me a contract, and I’ll sign it.” The Norfolk native believes he deserves a shot at the championship and is confident in his abilities to dethrone the reigning titleholders.
Interestingly, Davis has no interest in facing his close friend and WBC lightweight champion, Shakur Stevenson. He acknowledges that people have misunderstood Stevenson’s defensive-minded style, labeling him as a “boring” fighter. However, Davis believes Stevenson’s fighting style is similar to his own and that the Newark native is always hungry for a satisfying scrap.
“I am aware that Shakur shares my mentality and is willing to fight anyone.” You see him call out everybody, and you’ve got to realize why fighters are saying no to fighting him,” Davis explained. He believes the “boring” remarks about Stevenson are just excuses used by those who are scared of facing the WBC champion.
As for the potential matchups with “Tank” Davis and Lomachenko, Keyshawn Davis remains confident in his abilities. He doesn’t believe “Tank” wants to fight him, stating, “He’s fighting guys he knows he can beat. He knows he can beat Frank Martin.” The rising star is convinced that the WBA and IBF champion is more interested in fighting opponents he can easily defeat rather than taking on a genuine challenge like himself.
Regarding a potential clash with the legendary Vasyl Lomachenko, Keyshawn Davis believes the Ukrainian is contemplating retirement, making the fight less likely to happen. However, the 25-year-old is adamant that he’s ready to take on any other lightweight contender willing to step into the ring with him.
Davis declared, “Anybody else who’s at 135 and willing to stay at 135, you better trust and believe I’m the guy to try and get them in the ring.” The young star is determined to make a name for himself and secure a world title shot, regardless of who stands in his way.
Keyshawn Davis has made a significant impact on the lightweight division with his bold statements and unwavering confidence. The question remains whether “Tank” Davis, Lomachenko, or any other top contender will heed his call and step up to face the rising star. One thing is certain: Keyshawn Davis is ready to make his mark on the sport and prove that he’s the future of the lightweight division.
