Tammy Slaton, the breakout star of TLC’s hit reality series “1000-Lb. Sisters,” has achieved an astounding weight loss milestone. The 38-year-old reality TV personality, who once tipped the scales at over 700 pounds, now weighs in at a mere 281.2 pounds—less than her older brother, Chris Combs.
In a recent clip shared on the show’s official Instagram account, Tammy was visibly ecstatic as she stepped on the scale, revealing her newfound figure. “I think the last time I weighed 281 pounds, I was in fourth or fifth grade,” she exclaimed. “I’m the baby sister, but I’m not the ‘big’ baby sister anymore.”
Since the show’s inception in 2020, when she weighed a staggering 725 pounds, people have documented Tammy’s remarkable weight loss journey. Through sheer determination and the support of her family, Tammy has shed an incredible 440 pounds, a feat that even she finds difficult to believe.
“Chris said he weighs 284 pounds. I now weigh a little less than Chris. That’s mind-blowing,” Tammy shared, her voice brimming with pride and disbelief. Her older brother, Chris Combs, 44, who has also struggled with his own weight issues, couldn’t help but express his joy and amazement at Tammy’s progress.
“Tammy’s success makes me ecstatic,” Chris confessed in a candid confessional. “Did I ever think I’d see the day that she was smaller than me? Indeed, it’s unlikely that I ever imagined her ever being smaller than me. She’s always been Tammy—big.
Tammy’s weight loss journey has been a rollercoaster ride, with numerous setbacks and challenges along the way. In 2022, she underwent a life-changing gastric bypass surgery, which kickstarted her remarkable transformation. Since then, Tammy has continued to defy the odds, shedding an additional 300 pounds in the year following her procedure.
During a recent episode, Tammy recalled that she weighed about 725 pounds at her lowest point. “I’m extremely nervous” about her progress, she admitted, but her determination to improve her health and quality of life has been unwavering.
However, Tammy’s journey is far from over. While she has made incredible strides, her plastic surgeon has informed her that she is not yet ready for the highly anticipated skin removal surgery she has been hoping for. “Tammy is not currently a candidate for skin removal surgery because she’s only about 13 or 14 months out from her weight loss surgery,” Dr. Brad Turner explained. “At this point, she should probably continue to lose weight over the next six months to a year, get to her goal weight, and then we can reapproach the topic with her.”
Undeterred, Tammy remains focused on her continued weight loss and overall health. She has already ditched her walker and oxygen tank, and her lung function has improved dramatically. “I was able to make my lungs strong … And then recently the doctor cleared me to be off my oxygen machine during the daytime,” she shared proudly.
As Tammy Slaton continues to defy the odds and inspire millions with her remarkable transformation, fans of “1000-Lb. Sisters” eagerly await the next chapter of her inspiring journey. From a peak weight of 725 pounds to now weighing less than her own brother, Tammy’s story is a testament to the power of determination, resilience, and the unwavering support of loved ones.
