Net Worth 2024

As of 2024, Burrell’s net worth is estimated at around $5 million. Most of her earnings come from her successful television career. Beyond that, she also worked at several restaurants, contributing significantly to her wealth.

Early Life

Burrell was born to Marlene Burrell on September 21, 1969, in Cazenovia, New York. She became interested in cooking at a very young age and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications from Canisius College, Buffalo, in 1991.

After her graduation, Burrell attended the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy. Later, she joined the Culinary Institute of America and graduated with an associate’s degree in occupational studies (A.O.S.).

Professional Career

After her studies at the ICIF, Burrell spent nine months in Italy working for various restaurants. Then, she returned to the U.S. and worked as a sous chef at the now-closed Italian restaurant Felidia, owned by celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich. Later, she became the chef of Savoy and started teaching at the Institute of Culinary Education.

Burrell’s teaching and culinary experience recognized her name, which led to her job as a chef in Italian Wine Merchants’ New York wine store. There, she traveled with celebrity chef Mario Batali, who, in 2005, offered to serve her as one of his sous chefs on Food Network’s Iron Chef America.

In 2007, Burrell became the executive chef of the Italian restaurant Centro Vinoteca in New York City’s West Village area. However, her busy schedule forced her to leave the restaurant in September 2008.

That same year, her new cooking show, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, debuted on the Food Network in June. In 2009, she started hosting another Food Network show, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, which features her favorite dishes.

Burrell became part of the Guy Fieri Roadshow in 2009 with fellow Food Network personality Guy Fieri. In 2010, Burrell became the host of the reality series Worst Cooks in America on Food Network with the chef Beau MacMillan. It shows Burell and Macmillan taking contestants with poor cooking skills and making them travel through a culinary boot camp to become better cooks.

In late 2011, Burrell became part of the Celebrity Silhouette’s 11-day Food Network cruise, which traveled through the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic abroad. In June 2012, she started hosting Food Network’s Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell for three seasons.

Burrell opened a restaurant with her old friend Phil Casaceli in Brooklyn called Phil & Anne’s Good Time Lounge. But less than a year later, it was closed. As per the reports, the shutdown was due to disagreements between Burrell and her partner Casaceli.

In addition to cooking shows, Burell also authored books. Her first book, Cook Like a Rock Star, was published in 2011 and became a New York Times bestseller. She published her second book, Own Your Kitchen, in 2013, and it also became popular.

Personal Life

In 2012, Burrell confirmed her relationship with her girlfriend, Koren Grieveson, a chef, and they got engaged in December 2012. However, in 2020, she started dating Stuart Claxton, and they married in October 2021.
