Moglia was born on April 1, 1949, in New York City. He went on to attend Fordham Preparatory School between 1963 and 1967. Professional Career

Moglia started his career as a football coach for 16 years, and from 1981 to 1983, he worked as the defensive coordinator at Dartmouth College. After the end of the 1983 football season, he decided to try a career switch and joined the Merrill Lynch MBA training program on Wall Street, where he was the only football coach with over 26 trainees.

After that, he worked at Merrill Lynch as a member of the executive committees for 17 years and dealt with various institutional and private client businesses. In 2001, he became the chief executive officer at Ameritrade Holding Corp (TD Ameritrade).

With Moglia’s excellence, TD Ameritrade’s client assets grew from $24 billion to $300 billion and market capitalization from $700 million to $12 billion. The company also achieved record earning performance for five consecutive years.

Moglia announced in March 2008 that he was stepping down as CEO, citing his other interests. He officially vacated the position in September 2008. However, he didn’t leave the company altogether and became the new chairman of TD Ameritrade until late 2020.
