Guilfoyle was born to Mercedes and Anthony Guilfoyle in San Francisco on March 9, 1969. Her father was born in Ireland and immigrated to the United States when he was 20. He worked for four years in the U.S. Army and the construction trade. Guilfoyle’s mother was Puerto Rican and worked as a special education teacher. When Guilfoyle was 11, her mother died of leukemia.
Guilfoyle spent her childhood in the Mission District of San Francisco and Westlake. She completed her graduation from San Francisco’s Mercy High School. After that, she joined the University of California, Davis. 1994, she got her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
During law school, she interned at the San Francisco district attorney’s office and modeled for Victoria’s Secret and Macy’s. While studying at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, she published her research on international children’s rights and European Economic Community law.
Professional Career
After law school, Guilfoyle started her career as a prosecutor in San Francisco. However, in 1996, she lost her job after the district attorney fired 14 city prosecutors. After that, she worked as a deputy district attorney in Los Angeles, handling adult and juvenile cases. While working there, she received many awards, including Prosecutor of the Month.
Between 2000 and 2004, Guilfoyle worked as an assistant district attorney. In January 2004, she became a host of Both Sides on Court TV and a legal analyst on Anderson Cooper 360°. In 2006, she was hired by Fox News to host the weekend show The Lineup. The show was canceled after one year, but she remained on the network as a regular contributor.
From 2011 to 2018, she became the co-host of The Five. During her time on the network, she co-hosted and guest-hosted many shows, including Outnumbered, Hannity, Fox & Friends, and On the Record. 2017, Guilfoyle signed a long-term extension contract with Fox, but she left the network after one year.
