Early Life
Robbins was born to John Mohorovic and Nikki Robbins on February 29, 1960, in North Hollywood, California. He was the eldest of three children, and his parents were separated when he was seven. When he was 12, his mother remarried the former professional baseball player Jim Robbins, and Jim legally adopted Robbins.
He went on to study at Glendora High School. During his time in high school, due to a pituitary tumor, he grew 10 inches in a year. According to Robbins, his childhood was not a bed of roses. His mother was a drug addict and suffered from bipolar and narcissistic personality disorder. He grew up in a chaotic and abusive environment and left home when he was 17. After that, he worked as a janitor, barely earning $40 a week, and couldn’t attend college.
Professional Life
Robbins started his career at 17 when he partnered with the author and motivational speaker Jim Rohn. He sold tickets for Rohn’s seminars and events. With Rohn’s help, he started learning neuro-linguistic programming and Ericksonian Hypnosis. He knew fire walking from Tolly Burkan in 1983.
