Early Life

Banks was born to Donald Banks and Carolyn London in Inglewood, California, on December 4, 1973. Her mother was a medical photographer, and her father was a computer consultant. She has an elder brother, Devin. Her parents separated when she was six years old.

Banks attended John Burroughs Middle School and completed her high school graduation from Immaculate Heart High School in 1991. Banks recalled that she faced teasing for her appearance while growing up.

Professional Career

Banks started her modeling career when she was 15. She was signed with L.A. Models, but before that, she was rejected by four modeling agencies. At the age of 16, she signed with Elite Model Management. Banks moved to Milan after getting a modeling opportunity in Europe.

In th 1991 Paris Fashion Week, Bank was booked for 25 shows during her first runway season. Then she appeared in the editorials of several magazines, including American and French Vogue, German and Spanich Elle, and Vanity Fair.

Banks has posed for the covers of magazines, including Elle, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Teeb Vogue, and Seventeen. She has also walked in fashion shows for Chanel, Anna Sui, Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, Donna Karan, and Marc Jacobs.
