Professional Career

Williams started her career at WVIS as a disc jockey but disliked her position because she didn’t learn much from there. After that, she landed a job at WQHT in New York City but was fired after two years.

Later, WRKS hired Williams, and she joined with Jeff Foxx and Spider  Webb in “Wake-Up Club.” In April 1991, she hosted WRKS’s evening drive time slot and became the highest-rated host in her time slot by 1993.

The same year, she moved to host WRKS’s  morning program, “Wendy and Company.” William was transferred to WQHT after Emmis Broadcasting purchased it, and she started to host the evening time slot there.

In 1998, after being fired from Hot 97, she joined WUSL. There, she openly discussed her personal life, including miscarriages, former drug addictions, and breast enhancement surgery, which helped the network rank second in ratings. Williams joined WBLS full-time in 2001 for a syndicated 2-6 p.m. time slot, and she left the show in 2009 to focus on her television program.

In July 2008, she debuted on television in The Wendy Williams Show. Following its positive feedback, in 200, Fox signed a deal with Debmar-Mercury to broadcast the show nationally.
