New Jurassic World Movie Casts Rupert Friend in the Lead Role
In the next installment of the Jurassic World franchise, Rupert Friend joined as a lead. The actor is known for his performances in Obi-Wan Kenobi, Asteroid City, and Pride and Prejudice. He will star along with Jonathan Bailey, Scarlett Johansson, and Manuel Garcia.
Following David Leitch’s departure, Gareth Edwards will direct the new Jurassic World film. David Koepp, who wrote the script for Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, is penning the new movie. The plot details regarding the upcoming movie is currently under wraps, and it is unclear which role the actors will play. However, according to reports, it is based on the franchise’s original story.
Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce the film through Kennedy-Marshall. The production is expected to start in the summer and is scheduled to release on July 2, 2025.
The previous Jurassic Park stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neil, were not expected to return. Joantha Bailey addressed his entry in the new Jurassic movie on Instagram. He shared a photo of him at Orlando Studios, and captioned, “Hold onto your butts.”
The actor, Glen Powell, revealed that he turned down the offer to act in the new installment while speaking with The Hollywood Reporters. He said that Jurassic World was his favorite movie and that he wanted to be part of it, but he was not doing it.
He said, “I’m not doing that movie because I read the script, and I immediately was like, my presence in this movie doesn’t help it. And the script’s great. The movie’s going to f—ing kill.”
Rupert Friend gained recognition for playing the roles of The Libertine and Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont. His other notable works include The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, The Young Victoria, and Starred Up.
Next, he will be seen in the upcoming drama Dreams, along with Jessica Chastain, directed by Michel Franco. He is also part of the scientific thriller Companion, produced by Zach Cregger. The first movie in the Jurassic Park franchise was released in 1993, directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Michael Crichton’s book of the same name. The science-based adventure film turned into one of the most profitable films and became the highest-grossing film on its initial release.
Following its success, a sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, was made in 1997. The second sequel, Jurassic Park III, was released in 2001, but that was not under the direction of Spielburg.
A new trilogy of Jurassic Park set in 2015’s Jurassic World, and its sequels, Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominon (2022).
