Chris Pine Says He is Stunned by the Wonder Woman 3 Cancelation
When the DC studio canceled the third installment of Wonder Woman, many of them expressed their disagreements, and one of them was Chris Pine. he played the role of Steve Trevor, a former Air Force officer and the love interest of Diana/Wonder Woman.
During an interview with Business Insider to promote Chris’ directorial debut, Poolman, he talked about his shock regarding the cancelation of the Wonder Woman franchise.
He said, “I’m stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere.” he added that he didn’t know the reason behind the cancelation, but Wonder Woman was an incredible character. He said the director of the film, Patty Jenkins, was a thoughtful person.

Pine admitted that, at first, he was not interested in playing the role of Diana’s boyfriend. He said, “It sounded like second fiddle.” however, his mentality changed when he talked with Patty. He said that she described it as not at all a superhero movie; she wanted to make a movie that included romance.
The superhero film Wonder Woman was released in 2017. It grossed $822 million at the worldwide box office and became the tenth highest-grossing film of that year. The film follows the story of Diana Prince and Steve Trevor paired to fight in World War I. The character of Pine is dead at the end of the first film, but he returns in the second part when Wonder Woman wishes him bring back to reality.
In that interview, Steve noted that he would not be part of the third movie. He said, “It would be ridiculous to try to bring me back.”
The second part of the film, named Wonder Woman 1984, was released in 2020. The film mainly received a mixed response from the audience and critics. In December 2022, it was reported that the third sequel of the film was canceled.
Chris Pine gets recognition by playing the roles in the films The Princess Diaries 2 and Just My Luck. he is best known for his character, James T. Kirk, in the Star Trek reboot film series. His other important films include Into the Woods, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, The Finest Hours, and Outlaw King.
Chris Pine’s directorial debut film is Poolman, which is set to release on May 10. He also played the lead character in that movie. The other cast includes Annette Bening, Stephen Tobolowsky, DeWanda Wise, and Clancy Brown.
