Conan O’Brien Returns to The Tonight Show 14 Years Later Since He Got Fired
Conan O’Brien the popular comedian returns The Tonight Show after a decade. The former host appeared on the show on April 9, after he was fired in 2010. Conan reminded his hosting time while chatting with the current host of the show, Jimmy Fallon.
He quoted his comeback as weird. He said that all the memories flooded back to him while he walked through the halls of the studio. When someone else is in our studio as a host, it makes me weird.
He appeared on the show for the promotion of Conan O’Brien Must Go, an upcoming Max series, which the fans are excited about. During the interview with Jimmy Fallon, Conan recollected his time as the Tonight host and joked about his awkward moments with shorter guests.
The interview covers O’Brien’s venture beyond the show like late-night television. He spoke about his podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, which was started in 2018, and its success. He also highlighted that being a late-night show host is the best job in the world. O’Brien said that he enjoys podcasting because he can create detailed interviews rather than having a seven-minute chat with a guest.

During their conversation, Fallen showed a picture, of when he made an appearance on Late Night with O’Brien, in 1999. O’Brien recalled the moment and Fallon’s parents’ inquiry regarding their son’s performance.
O’Brien’s new show, Conan O’Brien Must Go is a travel series, a spin-off to his podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. It is scheduled to premiere on April 14, 2024 on Max. The show will feature his meeting with the fans whom he video-called in his podcast. He also travels to various countries including Norway, Ireland, and Thailand.

Conan was hosting the show Late Night from 1993 to 2009. After the Tonight Show host Jay Leno moved to primetime, Conan has been assigned for the hosting duties. But after their change in the timeslots, ratings started to decline. The NBC executives decided to move back Jay Leno to The Tonight Show and Conan’s Tonight Show schedule shifted to after midnight.
O’Brien served as the host of The Tonight Show between 2009-2010. The final episode of Conan as host of the show aired on January 22, 2010, and featured the guests Tom Hanks, Neil Young, Steve Carell, and Will Ferrell. Jay Leno returned to The Tonight Show later that year following the coverage of the Winter Olympic Games 2010 and remained the host until 2014, after that Jimmy Fallon took over the position.
After the departure of The Tonight Show O’Brien started to host his show, Conan and it ran 11 successful seasons on TBS.
