The glitz and glamour of HGTV stardom has given way to a very public and messy legal battle between reality TV personality Christina Hall and her estranged husband, Josh Hall. At the heart of the dispute? Their $4.5 million Tennessee farmhouse.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Josh has filed an emergency order in a desperate attempt to stop Christina from selling the sprawling Franklin, Tennessee property known as Parker Branch. But Christina, the sole owner of the estate, isn’t backing down without a fight.
The drama first unfolded earlier this month when Christina, the star of shows like “Christina on the Coast” and “Christina in the Country,” announced on social media that she was listing the home for sale. In a since-deleted Instagram story, she appeared to aim at Josh, accusing him of trying to “steal” from her and her three children.
“Remember when you said you would never steal from me or my kids and would just be happy in a van with your dog? I guess plans changed,” Christina wrote, adding that Josh was “asking for an obscene amount” of money during their divorce proceedings despite the marriage lasting just two years.
But Josh is firing back, claiming in court documents that the home was meant to be a “family” property, not a business venture. He alleges that Christina did not obtain his consent or a court order before listing the home and that he has been living at the property as part of a previous agreement.
“My relocation to Tennessee was significantly influenced by our Stipulation above (sic), allowing me to enjoy this property throughout our separation,” Josh said in the filing, arguing that selling the home would result in “prejudice” to him due to the increase in his living expenses.
Josh further claimed that Christina refused to honor a “global settlement offer” he had made, which included terms related to the Parker Branch residence. Instead, she listed the property without his approval, he says.
“Any such argument is a farce. Parker Branch was purchased for us to enjoy as a family. It was not a business investment,” Josh asserted in the documents.
But Christina’s team sees things differently. A source close to the situation told Us Weekly that Josh had lived in the Tennessee home since the couple’s separation and that the current listing was simply Christina’s way of “moving on” with her life.
“When Christina listed the Tennessee house, Josh got upset because Christina has been allowing him to stay there during their separation,” the insider said. “But now he has to move out potentially.”
Another source, however, painted Josh as the aggrieved party, accusing Christina of “making a public spectacle” and “backing out of their agreement and the court order.”
“As is in the public record, Josh agreed to let Christina have exclusive use and possession of their jointly owned Newport property, and Christina agreed to allow Josh to use her Tennessee property when it’s not being rented as an Airbnb,” the insider claimed. “Now, Josh feels like Christina is going back on her word.”
It’s a messy situation, to be sure, with both sides digging in their heels and taking their battle public. And with the sale of the Tennessee home now in limbo, it’s clear that the drama between Christina and Josh is far from over.
