Actor and comedian Jamie Foxx is revealing the shocking circumstances that led to his hospitalization in 2023, and he is blaming rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. According to multiple eyewitnesses who attended tapings of Foxx’s upcoming Netflix special, “What Had Happened Was,” the 54-year-old star made some explosive claims about Combs during his set.
Videographer, producer, and director Choke No Joke informed Comedy Hype that Foxx said during the tapings, “Diddy was responsible for what happened to him, and [Foxx] is the one who called the FBI on [Combs].”
Choke, who attended two of the three show tapings, insisted that he didn’t believe Foxx was joking. “I know when somebody’s setting up a punchline, and I know when you’re serious,” he said.
Another audience member, celebrity security guard Big Homie.CC, made similar claims in an interview with Cam Capone News. He alleged that “I know [Combs] poisoned Jamie Foxx, and Jamie Foxx reported him to the FBI because of it.”
However, a third attendee, Dennis L.A. White, offered a different account. He told Page Six that he heard Foxx say something more along the lines of, “People keep asking me if Diddy was responsible. He was not responsible. If he was, I would’ve been dead.”
White said he did not recall Foxx mentioning the FBI, but noted that the comedian did spend a significant portion of his set making jokes about “baby oil” in relation to Combs.
Reps for Combs, Foxx, and Netflix did not respond to requests for comment. The varying accounts have only added to the mystery surrounding Foxx’s 2023 hospitalization, the details of which remained largely under wraps for months.
In April of that year, Foxx’s eldest daughter, Corinne Foxx, announced that her father had “experienced a medical complication,” but provided no further specifics. Three months later, Foxx himself opened up about the “hellish” experience, admitting he wasn’t sure he was “going to make it through.”
The actor also drew backlash in August 2023 for an Instagram post that many deemed to be “antisemitic.” Later, Foxx deleted the message and apologized, citing his “betrayal by a fake friend.”
Now, Foxx appears to be alleging that the “fake friend” he referenced was none other than Combs—a claim that, if true, would add a shocking new layer to an already bizarre saga.
The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn is currently holding Combs, 54, without bail on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. The rap mogul pleaded not guilty to the federal indictment, which alleges that he “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct” for decades.
Prosecutors claim they discovered more than 1,000 bottles of lubricant, various narcotics, and three AR-15s when they raided Combs’ Los Angeles and Miami mansions in March. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of life.
As the legal proceedings against Combs continue, Foxx’s claims about his potential involvement in the actor’s 2023 health scare have only added to the tumult surrounding the embattled rapper.
In a recent Instagram post, Foxx appeared to address the allegations, writing, “God is good.” I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story, and there was no better place than Atlanta, Georgia,” where he was hospitalized.
It’s unclear if the final version of Foxx’s Netflix special will include his full account of the incident. But one thing is clear: the relationship between these two entertainment titans has taken a decidedly dark turn.
