Jennifer Aniston Becomes Emotional While Talking About Friends Turning 30
Jennifer Aniston gets emotional while discussing the sitcom Friends, which is turning 30 in September. During a conversation with Quinta Brunson for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Aniston was asked how it felt to watch the series now.
Aniston said, “Oh God, don’t make me cry.” When Quinta’s question made Aniston emotional, she politely asked, “Do you want a minute? We don’t have to talk about [it.]” But Aniston said that it was a “happy tear.”
Then she was handed over a tissue, and after that, she discussed the sitcom turning into 30. She said, “It’s so strange to even think that it’s 30 years old, because I remember the day that it was going to premiere on television, on NBC.”
During the conversation, she joked, “And I’m turning 30, what a coincidence!.” She also shared some incidents about the day of the sitcom’s premiere and said, “The excitement we had, it feels like yesterday.”
She added that she had a brief conversation with Courteney Cox for an hour on FaceTime last night and continues to maintain contact with the other cast members, stating, “It’s a family forever.”
The actress also shared some interesting facts about the series behind the scenes. She revealed that Lisa Kudrow hated when the live audience laughed before she delivered her line during the shooting, adding, “She’d be like, ‘Ugh, I’m not done! It’s not that funny!'”

It revolves around the lives of six friends who lives in Manhattan. The main cast includes Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc.
The series’ finale became the fifth most-watched series in television history and the 2000s most-watched television episode. It is also considered one of the most popular TV shows of all time. The series received 62 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
In 2021, a reunion special titled Friends: The Reunion premiered on HBO Max, which featured the six cast members reunited to discuss the series and revisit the sets of the original show.
In October 2023, Mathew Perry, who played the character of Chandler Bing, was found dead in his Los Angeles home due to a high dose of ketamine. The Friends cast released a statement about his death, which read, “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.”
