Kevin Jonas Reveals He Undergoes Surgery to Remove Skin Cancer
The actor and musician Kevin Jonas disclosed his diagnosis of skin cancer and subsequent surgery. On Monday, he posted a video on his Instagram account to share the news about his treatment.
He captioned the clip, “Friendly reminder to get your moles checked.” In the selfie video, while lying down, he said, “So today I am getting a basal cell carcinoma removed from my head.”
He gave a closer look at his mole and said, “Yes, that is a actual little skin cancer guy that started to grow, and now I have to get surgery to remove it.”
Then the clip resumes after the surgery, in which he lifts the bandage, covering his scarf, but conceals the part with a shocked emoji. “Alright, I’m all done,” he said while sitting in his vehicle. He also added, “Now it’s time to heal, heading home.”
Kevin concluded the video by giving advice to his followers. He said, “Make sure to get those moles checked, people.”
Many of his fans posted well wishes in his comment section. The Skin Cancer Foundation commented under his post, “So sorry to hear about your BCC, Kevin. Thank you for raising awareness. Early detection is key.” They also wished him the best on his recovery journey.
Basal cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer, according to the Mayo Clinic. It typically manifests as a “slightly transparent bump” in the skin and typically affects areas of the skin exposed to the sun.
Kevin’s health scare update comes after a week he posted a fun moment of his daughter, Alena, who dressed up like her father. On June 6, he posted a side-by-side photo of himself and Alena. In that photo, she dressed like her dad’s style by wearing double denim and a brown curly wig. He captioned it, “When your daughter dresses up as you for New Jersey day.”
Kevin underwent surgery after the Jonas brothers postponed their European tour in April. They rescheduled the Mexican date after Nick Jonas revealed his flu.
In a video shared on the official Jonas Brothers account, Nick Jonas said, “A couple days ago I started feeling kind of rough, lost my voice when I had woken up and grinded that night out to be able to play the show in Cancún.”
They apologize to their fans for postponing the date by stating in the caption, “We are incredibly sorry for the inconvenience this causes some of you.”
Fans can see Kevin Jonas in the third season of the ABC celebrity reality competition Claim to Fame as a host, along with Frankie Jonas. The new season will be scheduled to air in July 2024.
