‘Knives Out 3’: Andrew Scott Joins the Cast
Andrew Scott joins the third installment of the Knive Out movie titled ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.’ He will star alongside the previously confirmed cast of Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny. The details regarding their character have not been disclosed yet. Daniel Craig will return to his character as Benoit Blanc.
Rian Johnson, who directed the previous two movies in the franchise, will return to direct and write Knives Out 3. He will also produce the film along with Ram Bergman. The production will start soon and is expected to be released sometime in 2025.
The third installation’s plot details are currently under wraps. However, Johnson hinted that it would be Blanc’s most dangerous case. Netflix also announced that the next film will concentrate on a new murder mystery.
Johnson revealed the film’s title via his social media account on May 24. He shared a 45-second video that shows the title, and it also confirmed that Daniel Craig will reprise his role. Netflix also confirmed it by sharing the video on the TUDUM site.
Before revealing the title of the movie, Johnson shared another post and expressed his love for the whodunit genre. He said, “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is.”
He continued, “There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”
Andrew Scott came to fame by portraying the character James Moriarty in the BBC series Sherlock, and his performance won the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor. His important films include Pride, Spectre, and 1917.
His acting in All of Us Strangers grabbed the Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. He recently appeared in the Netflix series Ripley. His upcoming project is Back in Action, in which he stars along with Cameron Diaz.
Knives Out 3 will set the reunion for Craig and Scott, who previously starred together in the 2012 James Bond movie Spectre, where Scott played the role of secondary antagonist.
The first movie in the Knives Out franchise was released in 2019 and became a massive hit at the box office. With a budget of $40 million, the film earned $312.9 million worldwide. In March 2021, Netflix got the right to make two more sequels for $469 million.
The sequel premiered on Netflix in December 2022 after a limited theatrical release, which was titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
