Michael B. Jordan Shares Update About ‘I Am Legend 2’, Says He ‘Excited’ to Work with Will Smith
Actor Michael B. Jordan shares some updates on the I Am Legend 2 movie status. During a conversation with People magazine about his partnership with Propel Fitness Water on ‘Propel Your City Project’, he said that the script for the movie is currently in development and they don’t have any release dates.
He said, “We’re still working on the script and getting that up to par. It doesn’t have a release date or anything like that,” and continued, “I’m not sure exactly where we’re going to be filming that one.”
He also expressed his excitement to “get in front of the camera” with Will Smith. He added, “Being somebody that I’ve looked up to for a really long time, to be able to work with Will is something I’m really looking forward to.”
The film I Am Legend was released in 2007, and it follows Robert Neville, played by Will Smith, a virologist. He was living in New York City and was the only survivor in the world after a virus turned humans into zombie-like creatures called Darkseekers. He was working for the cure for the disease, and the movie ends with the death of Neville.
In May, Smith provided some details about the sequel while talking with Entertainment Tonight. He noted that they spent a couple of weeks together developing the movie. He said that they have some “solid ideas.”
He also added, “I think we’re going to make it on screen together. That dude is the truth, so I would love to do that.”
The movie’s sequel was first announced in March 2022, with Smith reprising his role. They also announced that Jordan would star in the film, and both of them would produce it. During the Red Sea International Film Festival, Smith revealed that ‘I Am Legend 2’ will opt for the alternative ending of the DVD, in which his character lived.
He said, “We are going with the mythology of the DVD version. I can’t tell you anything more, but Michael B. Jordan is in.”
I Am Legend was directed by Francis Lawrence, who is famous for directing four of The Hunger Games film series. But it is currently unclear if he will return to the director’s seat for the sequel. The film’s script was penned by Akiva Goldsman, and no other actors were added to the cast list.
Jordan recently starred in the third Creed installment and will feature in Ryan Coogler’s upcoming untitled film, scheduled for release in 2025.
