Nicola Coughlan Reacts the Dating Rumors with Luke Newton at Bridgerton Season 3 Premiere

Nicola Coughlan responds to the rumors of being romantically involved with Luke Newton. The co-stars appeared together on the red carpet for the premiere of Bridgerton Season 3  at Alice Tully Hall in New York City on Monday.

While at the premiere, Nicola was asked about the dating rumors with Luke. She denied the rumors and stated that they were simply best friends. She said, “We think it’s really sweet, I think, because we truly love each other.” she continued that Luke was a special person in her life. She also added, “It’s so nice having such a lovely friend that I can do all this with.”

Nicola also discussed the sex scenes with Luke in the third season. She said, “It’s crazy,” and initially, she felt it would be terrifying to watch later. However, after watching the scene, Nicola added that her mentality had changed. She said, “They’re really romantic.”

Nicola previously opened up about the steamy scene with her co-star. She noted that she had filmed sex scenes before but not the way of Bridgerton. She told Tudum, “It’s really funny because Luke and I have known each other now three years.” she also added that Luke was a better partner and trusted him.

Luke Newton also talked about their intimate scenes in the third season. He said, “It’s really hard to tell if it’s, like, as steamy as everyone says it is because when you live through the process of it, it’s like, well, yeah it is really, like, it’s a sexy season.”

He joked that his mom was with him at the premiere and might be uncomfortable during the scenes. He said, “That will be fun. That will be a good conversation.” 

Nicola addressed Simone Ashley and Phoebe Dynevor, the lead actresses of Brigerton’s previous seasons, by stating that she received good support from them. She expressed her gratitude for that and continued to be there for the next lady.

Bridgerton is a historical romance created by Chris Van Dusen. The third season focuses on the love story between Penelope and Colin. In the last season, Penelope gives up her crush on Collin after hearing him say unfavorable things about her. The upcoming season is based on Juli Quinn’s fourth book in the series, Romancing Mister Bridgerton. 

It will be released in two parts: the first four episodes will premiere on Netflix on May 16, and the final four on June 13.
