OJ Simpson’s Official Cause of Death Revealed: The NFL Star Passed at 76
OJ Simpson’s official cause of death was revealed by his attorney and the executor of Simpson’s estate, Malcolm Laverne. According to TMZ, the former NFL star died from metastatic prostate cancer.
Laverne stated that he was pretty certain it was prostate cancer. He also added that Simpson thought he had beaten it. But they came back with a vengeance.
Simpson’s family confirmed his death on social media on April 10 but they didn’t specify the cause of death. They posted on his X account that on April 10th, their father died of battle with cancer. They also asked the fans to respect their privacy and grace.
Two months before Simpson’s death, there had been reports that he was undergoing prostate cancer treatment, but he didn’t confirm the diagnosis; instead, he denied the statement of hospice care.
In May 2023, he revealed in a video video shared on social media that he was battling cancer and shared some health updates. He said that he started using marijuana to reduce his side effects.
He posted another video on February 11; in that video, he thanked everyone who was concerned about him. He said that his health was good, but he was dealing with some issues. He also added that he would hopefully be back on the golf course in a couple of weeks.
After he passed away, his lawyer shared a statement his secret funeral would be held in Palm Mortuary in downtown Las Vegas. His attorney also said there were no plans for Simpson’s public memorial.
Simpson started his football career at College of San Francisco. Then, he transferred to the University of Southern California in 1967 and began playing there. Next year he won the Heisman Trophy. He then joined the NFL and played Buffalo Bills from 1969 to 1977. He also acted in movies including The Klansman, The Cassandra Crossing, Killer Force, and The Towering Inferno.
Despite being a successful footballer and actor, he became famous for being accused of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. They were found stabbed to death at Nicole’s home in Los Angeles in 1994. Simpson went to trial in 1995, known as the “Trial of the Century.”
He was found guilty of the death of Brown and Goldman in 1997, and their family filed a civil lawsuit against Simpson. They won the case and were ordered to pay $33.5 million to the family. It has been reported that he didn’t pay the full amount to Goldman’s family. The attorney of the Goldman family stated that Simpson failed to pay the total amount and, with interest, now owes over $114 million.
