Ava Phillippe, the firstborn daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, has added a new member to her family. The 25-year-old took to social media this week to share an exciting update: she has officially welcomed a new furry friend named Birdie.
“This is Birdie! She has blue eyes (for now?), a fantastic underbite, and the spunkiest personality,” Phillippe wrote in her Instagram caption on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Alongside the post, she shared an adorable selfie cradling the newest addition to her household.
Birdie joins Phillippe’s other dog, Benji, which she often showcases on her social media channels. A video from her post showed Benji already getting to know his new little sister, engaging in a lively game of tug. Phillippe adopted Birdie from the rescue organization Wags and Walks, and she expressed her gratitude to the organization for helping the pup “finally make her way home.”
“We know she’s about 3 months old, but what breed(s) do you think this gal might be?” Phillippe asked her followers, challenging them to leave their guesses in the comments as she awaited the results of Birdie’s DNA test. Fans quickly praised the new family member, with one writing, “What a cutie!” Birdie just won the family jackpot!” Another user jokingly suggested Birdie could be a “Witherphildoodle.”
Phillippe is Witherspoon’s only daughter. The Legally Blonde actress, 48, also shares a son, Deacon Phillippe, 21, with Ryan, and a younger son, Tennessee, 12, whom she shares with her ex, Jim Toth.
This exciting family update comes just months after the Witherspoon-Phillippe clan mourned the loss of one of their longtime furry companions, Hank. In August, Reese Witherspoon took to social media to express her grief, writing, “We will miss your sweet spirit, Hank. Thank you for being the best family pet and pack leader.”
Ava Phillippe similarly paid tribute to the family’s beloved dog, writing, “14 ½ years of pure love & constant tail wagging. The job was ‘family pet,’ and he excelled at it. Thanks, Hanky, for reminding us that every day is the best day ever.” It’s clear the Witherspoon-Phillippe household has a deep love for their four-legged friends, and the addition of Birdie is sure to bring even more joy and companionship to the family.
