Shannen Doherty Doesn’t Regret the Decision Not to Appear in Charmed Finale

In the latest episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty; she opened up about her decision not to return to the finale of the series Charmed and candidly explained why.

In that podcast, she answered questions from her fans and responded to a question about whether she regretted not being part of the Charmed finale.

She admitted that she regretted only one thing: not appearing in the finale episode, which was for the fans. She said, “I regret it in one sense. I regret it for the fans.”

She continued, “(But) I don’t regret it for me, because I was so incredibly wrecked from getting fired that, I think, even years, years, years later, had I walked on that set, and I think it just would’ve stirred everything back up for me.”

In December 2023, Doherty talked about her firing from Charmed in her podcast with Holly Marie Combs, her former co-star. She and Combs claimed that their co-star, Alyssa Milano, was the reason for her firing. In their discussion, Combs said that Jonathan Levin, the show’s producer, admitted Milano played for Doherty’s exit.

Combs recalled the conversation with Levin: “He said, you know, ‘We’re basically in a position where it’s one or the other.'” She continued by saying that Alyssia threatened to sue the producers for a hostile workplace environment.

Doherty also claimed that Milano and her mother tried to separate her and Combs and stopped her seeing Combs in the hospital after her surgery.

Milano addressed Doherty’s claim during a Who’s the Boss? panel at MegaCon Orlando in February. She said she was sad that “people can’t move past it.”

She shared an Instagram post that pinned the slides of her transcript during the conversation at the megacolon panel on Feb 3. In that post, she said, “I did not have the power to get anyone fired.” she called Doherty’s claim “revisionist history.”

Doherty and Combs responded to Milano’s assertation as a “revisionist and her denial. Combs said in her Instagram post that she was shocked and disappointed.

Doherty said, “We simply told the truth because the truth actually does matter,” and continued, “But we wanted to try to save you, the fans, from heartbreak as much as humanly possible. There is no revisionist history happening.”

Charmed is a fantasy drama aired between 1998 and 2006 on The WB. Milano, Doherty, and Combs played the lead roles in the series as the Halliwell sisters. Doherty was fired from the show after the third season. After her exit, Rose McGowan joined as a main cast.
