I’m excited to share the latest update on the music scene. Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has just dropped his highly anticipated fifth studio album, simply titled “Shawn.”
The project features several previously released singles, including “Why Why Why,” “Isn’t That Enough,” “Nobody Knows,” and “Heart of Gold.” Mendes initially shared the album trailer back in July, giving fans a sneak peek at the emotional journey that went into creating this self-titled album.
The 26-year-old star plays guitar in a serene forest setting and around a campfire with friends in the captivating trailer, all while singing the soulful “Isn’t That Enough.” Mendes opened up about the creative process, sharing, “Music really can be medicine. Two years ago, I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift.”
The Grammy winner went on to express his gratitude for the support of his friends, family, and loyal fanbase, writing, “Honestly, thank God for my friends and family. Life can be brutal, but having a small group of people you deeply trust to walk you through makes it so much better. I have no idea how I would have made it through the last couple of years, let alone make an album, without you.”
Shawn is Mendes’ fifth studio album and follows his 2020 release, “Wonder,” as well as his previous self-titled project from 2018. Mendes, along with collaborators Scott Harris, Mike Sabath, Nate Mercereau, and Eddie Benjamin, wrote and co-produced the new album, with additional songwriting contributions from Amy Allen and Ethan Gruska.
Fans can now stream the highly anticipated Shawn Mendes album in its entirety on all major platforms. With the singer’s vulnerable songwriting and stripped-back approach, this self-titled project promises to take listeners on a deeply personal journey through Mendes’ experiences over the past few years.
