Sofia Richie and Husband Eliot Grainge Welcome Their First Child
Sofia Richie welcomed her first baby with husband, Eliot Grainge on May 20. She announced the exciting news on Friday through her Instagram. She shared a black-and-white photo of her daughter’s feet and saw herself and Grainge gently holding their baby’s feet.
She wrote the caption, “Eloise Samantha Grainge, 5•20•24 best day of my life.”
They gave their daughter’s middle name ‘Samantha’ to honor Elliot’s late mother, Samantha Berg, who entered a coma due to childbirth complications in 1993, and she remained in that state until 2007.
After Richie announced the birth of her daughter and the name of the baby, her sister, Nichole Richie, and many celebrities, including Katy Perry, Lilly Collins, Kylie Jenner, and others, poured their love into the comments section.
Richie confirmed the news of her pregnancy in an interview with Vogue. While in the conversation, she announced that she was expecting a baby girl. Vogue posted a series of black-and-white photos showcasing her baby bump.
She shared her motherhood journey with Vogue and said, “I’ve learned more in the past six months than I have in my entire life,” She continued, “Every week brings new things, whether it’s hormonal shifts or expansion—there’s just so much our bodies go through, and it’s so interesting to experience it all.”
She also remembered her experience finding out about her pregnancy with her husband. She said, “He was so excited, and we both cried. It was crazy and overwhelming, and so hard not to scream it from the rooftops.”
Richie recalled the moment that they learned about their baby’s gender. She said that “it was a true shock,” as they thought “it was a boy.” she added, “My dream in life is to have a daughter, and Elliot is really excited for a girl too.”
Richie and Grainge get to know each other through Elliot’s father, Lucian Grainge, who is the CEO of Universal Music Group. Their romance rumors sparked in 2021, after her breakup with Scott Disick. In the same year, in April, they confirmed that they were dating.
In 2022, during a vacation in Hawaii, Grainge proposed to Richie in front of their family and friends. The pair tied the knot in April 2023, in a lavish ceremony in France. At that time, she shared her excitement about getting married to Grainge.
She said, “I’m so excited to be married, just because I’m marrying Elliot. I know that sounds so cheesy…he’s the man of my dreams.”
