Sophie Turner Opens Up About the Divorce with Joe Jonas and Its Aftermath
Sophie Turner shares the details about her divorce from the musician Joe Jonas and her life as a mother of two after the end of her marriage. She talked about the difficult phase she faced in an interview with British Vogue.
She discussed her experience when their divorce news made the headlines in the media. She said, “Those were the worst few days of my life.” She remembered that she was on the set and contracted to be on set for another two weeks. She continued, “My kids were in the States and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish Joan.”
At that time there were reports that questioned Turner’s motherhood after a photo published as she was partying in the pub. She said in that interview, “It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother — mum guilt is so real!”. She added, “I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum, and you’ve never been a partier.'”
She also talked about how the picture of her at Joan’s wrap-up party was used to manipulate news about her partying. She said, “It’s unfathomable the amount of people that will just make shit up and put it up based on a picture.” she further added, “It felt like I was watching a movie of my life that I hadn’t written, hadn’t produced, or starred in. It was shocking. I’m still in shock.”
Turner didn’t discuss the details regarding her and Jonas’ divorce due to ongoing legal reasons. She expressed that now her concentration is creating a healthy co-parenting relationship with Jonas. She said about her daughters, “They’re the victims in all of this. But I think we’re doing the best we can.” Turner is confident that they can figure it out and she also added Joe was a great father to their children.
Jonas file a divorce from Turner in September 2023 by stating that their marriage was “irretrievably broken.” The pair released a joint statement on Instagram by noting that it was a joint decision. However, after that Turner sued Jonas by claiming he wrongfully detained their daughters in New York.
Turner and Jonas first connected through Instagram DM’s in 2016. They first met at a pub in London and got engaged in 2017. They tied the knot in 2019 and Turner moved from England to New York City and welcomed their daughters 2020 and 2022 respectively.
