Taylor Swift Politely Corrects Security Guard While Arriving at Chiefs Game

Never be so polite; you forget your power. Never wield such power; you forget to be polite. Those words—from Taylor Swift’s song “Marjorie”—rang  true on Sunday as the superstar displayed both power and politeness while making her entrance at Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs game.

Swift Arrives In Style

Swift, wearing a red and black plaid blazer and skirt, arrived shortly before kickoff to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. While Swift pulled up in a golf cart seated alongside her mother Andrea, a security guard began shouting “Stay back!” at those who had been awaiting the arrival of the 14-time Grammy winner. “Stay back, please,” Swift politely said with a smile, gently correcting the security guard as she made her way into the stadium.

Supporting Her Boyfriend

Swift has attended all five of the Chiefs’ home games this season, with the team winning each to remain unbeaten on the season at 9-0. She cheered excitedly after Kelce caught a record-breaking touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes in the second quarter to give the Chiefs a 14-10 lead over the Denver Broncos. Kelce’s 76th career receiving touchdown tied the franchise record for the Chiefs, previously held by former tight end Tony Gonzalez.

The Eras Tour Continues

Swift recently completed the United States portion of her massive “Eras Tour” on November 3 in Indianapolis. She now returns to the stage on Thursday in Toronto for the first of five shows at Rogers Centre. She then heads to Vancouver for three shows beginning December 6.

Swift will have more opportunities to support her boyfriend as the Chiefs play road games against the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers before returning to Arrowhead Stadium on Friday, November 29 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

A Blossoming Romance

The couple has been dating since summer 2023, and Swift has regularly attended Chiefs games, while Kelce has been present at several of her Eras Tour concerts. Recently, Kelce joined her show in Indianapolis, a visit he shared during a “New Heights” podcast episode with his brother, Jason Kelce. Kelce mentioned that the Indianapolis audience was especially energetic, knowing it might be one of Swift’s last American concerts before the tour’s international leg begins.

Reflecting on her relationship with Kelce, Swift spoke to TIME in 2023 about their commitment to supporting each other’s careers, sharing that while they aren’t hiding their relationship, they enjoy being present at each other’s important moments. “It’s just been amazing to have someone who understands the schedule—the travel, the recording, the filming,” Swift said. “It really makes a difference to have that kind of partnership.”

With Swift’s global fame and Kelce’s status as one of the NFL’s top tight ends, the power couple has captured the hearts of fans around the world. Their relationship is based on a foundation of both power and politeness, as evidenced by their interaction on Sunday.
