In the wake of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Teddi Mellencamp‘s announcement that she is filing for divorce from her husband Edwin Arroyave, the businessman has taken to social media with a series of cryptic posts about navigating “dark days.”
“You’re not always going to be motivated or inspired,” Arroyave wrote in an Instagram Story on Sunday, sharing a post-workout selfie. “That’s where rituals and habits come in. Having positive habits is what will get you through your dark days.”
He continued, “Under pressure, your true character emerges.” Arroyave’s introspective messages come just a day after Mellencamp, 43, revealed the couple’s decision to end their 13-year marriage.
“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the Bravo personality wrote in a statement on Saturday. “Prioritizing my children and ensuring their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter is my top priority.”
The former couple, who met in 2009 and wed in 2011, share three children together: daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4, as well as son Cruz, 10. Arroyave is also a father to an older daughter, Isabella, from a previous relationship.
“Church bound with these beautiful souls,” Arroyave captioned an Instagram Story snapshot of himself and the three kids on their way to Sunday services.
While Mellencamp has yet to publicly address the details surrounding the split, Arroyave’s social media posts suggest he is leaning on his faith and healthy habits to navigate this “new chapter.”
“I always say life and pain are inseparable,” the 47-year-old businessman wrote in a heartfelt tribute to his soon-to-be ex-wife just last week, praising her for her advocacy work with the Melanoma Research Foundation.
Now, as the former couple embarks on their divorce proceedings, Arroyave’s cryptic messages about weathering “dark days” and staying true to one’s character provide a glimpse into his emotional state during this challenging transition.
For fans of the “Real Housewives” franchise, Mellencamp and Arroyave’s split marks the end of an era, as the couple’s relationship struggles were a central storyline during Teddi’s time on the show. However, with Arroyave’s focus on self-care and his children, it seems he is determined to emerge from this “pressure” as a stronger individual.
