The Voice Winner Sundance Head Airlifted to Hospital After Being Shot on His Texas Ranch

On Friday, November 15, Sundance Head, the victor of season 11 of the US singing competition The Voice, received an airlift to the hospital following a gunshot on his Texas ranch. According to his agent, Trey Newman, the 46-year-old country singer sustained a gunshot wound “to his naval area” and is currently in a stable condition.

Newman stated that the bullet “missed all vital organs” and that the incident was “not self-inflicted.” After Head was shot while hunting on his ranch, he said, “We don’t know if it was an accident with his gun or if it was another hunter nearby.”

Misty, Head’s wife, shared updates on his condition on social media, stating that the bullet “lodged in some fatty tissue, and the only way it could have happened is if it travelled through something else.” She also mentioned that the paramedics who called her informed her that Head would undergo immediate surgery upon landing.

In a Facebook post, Misty requested prayers from her husband’s “Prayer Warriors,” stating, “The paramedics who called me have life-flighted Sundance due to a gunshot wound to his stomach.” They told me once they land, he’s going in for immediate surgery. The paramedic confirmed that they stabilized him for the flight, and we are currently en route to Tyler. Again, this is the only information I have at the time. Please just keep him in your prayers.”

Sundance Head first gained recognition as a contestant on American Idol in 2007, where he made it to the semi-finals. He later found success on fellow country singer Blake Shelton’s team on The Voice in 2016, ultimately winning the competition.

Since his victory on The Voice, Head has gone on to release four albums, with his most recent, “Starting Again,” coming out in 2022. He had several shows scheduled across Texas in December and the new year, but it’s unclear if those will proceed as planned following this incident.

We at [Publication Name] wish Sundance Head a full and speedy recovery, and we hope to see him back on stage soon, bringing the country music he’s so well-known for to his loyal fans.
