Valerie Bertinelli Decides to Take Mental Health Break From Social Media; Says ‘Emotionally Exhausted’

Valerie Bertinelli, who is famous for portraying the character in the sitcom One Day at a Time, has announced that she is taking mental health from social media.

The post came just a week after she completed her United States tour for her new book, Indulge. On Friday, she took to her Instagram to post a selfie of herself and wrote, “The last six or so weeks have been…a LOT,” and continued, “And while I am incredibly grateful for all your support for my book and everyone I’ve had the good fortune to meet, this here introvert in extrovert’s clothing is in need of a mental health break.”

Bertinelli further said that she knew she didn’t need to announce her departure, but she wanted to be aware of the news with some fans who might worry about her if she didn’t post often enough.

She also added, “Taking a little social media cleanse/detox and a mental health break is a good thing, and I’m grateful I’m at a place in my life where I’m aware enough to know when I’m overwhelmed and mentally/emotionally exhausted.”

At the end of the note, she promised her beloved follower she would be back by saying, “I’ll be back before you know it.”

Bertelli published her latest book, Indulge: Delicious and Decadent Dishes to Enjoy and Share, on April 2. It contains 100 recipes to “nourish the body and the soul.” On the same day, she started her book tour in Long Island, New York. She posted the tour details on her Instagram with the caption, “I hope to see you on tour!”

In six weeks, she covered 13 events in eight states across the country and ended her book tour on May 6 in Newark, DE.

During her tour, she posted several social media updates, including confirming her relationship with her boyfriend, Mike Goodnough. On April 20, the pair went Instagram official by sharing a selfie of them. She uses the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s High School to caption the post, “I’ll drink what you think, and I’m high from smoking’ your jokes all damn night.”

On April 22, she posted another video of herself and thanked her fans for supporting her new book and life update. She wrote, “I just wanted to send out a huge thank-you for supporting me and for all your sweet responses to my life updates.”
