Bronny James Faces Uncertain Playing Time Ahead of Lakers’ Season Opener

The LA Lakers open their season against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, and there’s no guarantee that Bronny James will play. We don’t expect the highly anticipated rookie to be a key rotation player to start the season, as his focus should be on developing with the Lakers’ GL team, the South Bay Lakers.

When asked if he knows whether he will play in Tuesday’s game, Bronny said, “I don’t.” This keeps Lakers fans guessing about his playing status for the opener.

Bronny was also questioned about how he will address his father, LeBron James, while they are teammates. “Probably Bron. That probably will be the easiest one,” Bronny revealed. LeBron’s previous remarks that Bronny can’t refer to him as “dad” on the court are consistent with this.

“Once we exit the private facility and the gates close, I can once again assume the role of a father; whether we’re in the car together or at home, I can assume the role of a father.” We cannot be running down the court, and he would say, “Dad, push the ball up! “Dad, I’m open! Dad, come on!'” During an appearance on The Shop, LeBron spoke.

The four-time champion suggested that Bronny should instead call him “23,” “Bron,” or the “GOAT.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Bronny’s playing time, LA coach JJ Redick found encouragement in the rookie’s preseason improvement. “I’m sure it felt good to have 17 points,” Redick said after the Lakers’ final preseason game against the Golden State Warriors. “I’m not even remotely concerned about that. It’s not even on my radar. We’re trying to help him grow into a talented basketball player.”

Bronny’s 17-point, 4-rebound performance in 35 minutes was his best showing in the preseason. Redick noted that he’s seen “real improvement and some attention to detail” from all the Lakers’ young players, including Bronny.

As the new NBA season tips off, all eyes will be on the James family as they navigate this historic moment. While Bronny’s playing time may be limited early on, the Lakers’ focus appears to be on his long-term development rather than instant contributions.
