I recently stumbled upon an intriguing story about professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau. During the 2024 US presidential elections, people spotted the 31-year-old LIV Golf player wearing a dark “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat.
Bill Pulte, the CEO of Pulte Capital Partners, shared a picture of Bryson DeChambeau at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on election night on X (formerly Twitter). DeChambeau, wearing a black suit jacket over a white shirt, prominently displays the bold MAGA hat in the image.
Also present at the event were former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk, both of whom have publicly supported each other and the MAGA movement. Trump previously congratulated DeChambeau on his 2024 US Open win, praising his “toughness and inner strength.”
LIV Golfer Anthony Kim, who made a remarkable return to professional golf this year after a 12-year break, has also voiced his support for Trump on X, writing: “Looking forward to the results of a #election that hopefully isn’t being manipulated, @realDonaldTrump & #JDVance will win & #MAGA & #KamalaHarris & #timwalz will finish top 3 behind #MegynKelly after her speech #Trump2024 #girldad #mentalhealth.”
DeChambeau’s political alignment has raised eyebrows, as the sport of golf is often seen as a more unifying force. However, the golfer has maintained that he is open to playing with individuals of diverse political views, including former President Barack Obama.
In an interview with Golf.com, DeChambeau said, “It’s sad some people feel that way. First of all, that video was excellent golf content, and secondly, it raised a quarter of a million dollars for a veteran’s charity [the Wounded Warrior Project]. That was the main focus of the video. Of course, Trump is a figure and a character, and we need those [colorful] moments. John Daly also embodies a unique personality. That’s what makes excellent videos.”
As the 2024 US elections continue to unfold, Bryson DeChambeau’s political leanings have added an intriguing layer to his already captivating story. The young golfer’s rise to prominence, his close ties with Donald Trump, and his willingness to engage with diverse political views have all contributed to making him a figure of interest both on and off the golf course.
